Woodstone Land Donation Helps Preserve Nature Along Mud Creek
At Stone Brook, a connection to nature is part of what makes the community special. That connection has a lasting legacy through Mud Creek Nature Preserve, created with 62 acres of land donated by Woodstone Custom Homes. At Woodstone, we believe that a truly exceptional living experience is defined not just by the craftsmanship of the home, but by the natural beauty of the surrounding community.
In the summer of 2026, Genesee Land Trust celebrated a significant milestone in protecting and conserving over 10,000 acres of land, with the opening of Mud Creek Nature Preserve as its 20th nature preserve. In accepting the land donation GLT committed that the “Mud Creek Nature Preserve will always be open, always be protected, and always be free for everyone to explore and enjoy.” For Woodstone, donating the land was an opportunity to help preserve the landscape that makes this area such a wonderful place to call home. We are proud to have contributed to a space that benefits both Stone Brook residents and the wider community.
Surrounding the Stone Brook community, the preserve offers simple ways to enjoy time outdoors: walking the trails, watching birds and butterflies, fishing, relaxing in the shade of a tree or enjoying the native wildflowers along the creek. The wooded creek corridor provides a peaceful setting to slow down and take in the changing seasons. With help from Victor Hiking Trails and the Boy Scouts, new trails are currently being added along Mud Creek in Victor, providing even more to look forward to in the future.
For those who call Stone Brook home, this connection to the Mud Creek Nature Preserve, Auburn Trail, and nearby Mertensia Park brings a variety of outdoor experiences close to home. All directly accessible by sidewalk or trails from the Stone Brook community. It is a distinctive part of the neighborhood’s setting and one we are pleased to help protect for the wider community. Having this connection to protected natural land adds something special to everyday life.
